2025 Impact Management Tools & Co-Creation Workshop in Taipei

To help industries identify concrete tools and methods for sustainable development and social impact management, the Center organized the “Social Impact Management Co-Creation Workshop” on August 30, 2025, at the GIS NTU Convention Center, led by Professor Chia-Hao Ho of the Institute of Human Resource Management, National Sun Yat-sen University. The workshop centered on co-creation card design and group discussion, bringing together representatives from consulting, biotechnology, manufacturing, logistics, and wholesale industries to jointly examine and assess their organizations’ positioning in terms of social impact.

Inspired by a Firefighter Scenario

The event opened with a vivid question posed by Professor Ho:
“If you are a firefighter and you only have one hose, would you choose to save people first, stop the fire from spreading, or control the overall blaze?”

This scenario guided participants to reflect on the true meaning of “impact”—in situations with limited resources, companies too must make trade-offs to create the greatest social value. Participants nodded in agreement, showing that the metaphor went straight to the core.

Professor Ho then extended the discussion to the definition of “impact,” noting that although there are numerous sustainability indicators and measures, they often cause companies to feel anxious and uncertain about whether they are acting correctly or moving in the right direction. The tools designed for this workshop aimed to help businesses systematically take stock of their current status and identify their position on the sustainability impact map.

Social Value and Impact Management Tools

On the theoretical side, the workshop introduced the concept of Social Value and further explored its key elements in value creation. It also explained the practical evolution of Impact Management and the mainstream sustainability tools available today. These methods can help companies more precisely track the impacts of their actions, align them with the SDGs, and build a more sustainable and resilient decision-making framework.

Card Experience: Playing Out Your Impact Positioning

The highlight of the workshop was the co-creation experience with the Social Impact Management Cards. Each participant received a specially designed set of cards covering a wide range of value issues. Based on their company’s current situation, participants categorized and prioritized the cards, eventually arranging statements on an “inverted pyramid chart” from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree.”

  • “This card is very important to our company!”
  • “But from an industry perspective, we may need to reconsider the priority.”

The discussions were lively, with diverse perspectives sparking new insights and helping participants see more clearly the differences and challenges industries face in sustainability practices.

From Interaction to Co-Creation

In the group sharing session, some companies highlighted employee empowerment and learning, while others focused on stakeholder management and resource sustainability. Through comparison and dialogue, participants identified shared concerns and discovered diverse cross-industry perspectives.

At the close of the workshop, Professor Ho introduced the next stage of “Impact Management Process Design” and invited participants to continue engaging in co-creation toward a more comprehensive social impact management toolkit.

Turning Abstract Impact into Tangible Experience

With co-creation as its core, this workshop transformed the abstract concept of social impact into a concrete and engaging experience. Participants shared feedback that the card co-creation exercise helped them re-examine their companies’ internal priorities and recognized that impact measurement and management will be a vital trend in the future. Since industries require tools tailored to their specific characteristics, they also expressed strong anticipation for Professor Ho’s ongoing research and related outcomes.
